GRAND RAPIDS, MN: Arts and culture group Fire in the Village, led by Anishinaabe artist and musician Annie Humphrey, is pleased to announce our fall 2025 art and music tour.

This year’s theme ‘Warriors and the Powerless’ echos the inspirational messages that artist Annie Humphrey weaves into each of her performances: “Quote from Annie explaining what she means by Warriors and the Powerless… Power is just a thought away.”

Like last year, each tour stop includes a daytime community meal and art workshop, followed by an art and music concert that same evening. “Quote from Shanai about the daytime workshop and using food and art to gather, share our stories, build community, find our power”

Shows in the cities of Minneapolis and Duluth, as well as in small towns where Fire in the Village has been building creative community, including Aitkin, Grand Rapids, Bemidji. The tour will also showcase collaborations with schools and community organizations serving Native youth in Bemidji and on the Boise Forte reservation. It will culminate in a special concert honoring one of Annie’s mentor, poet artist and activist John Trudell.

What will happen on the tour?

  • At every tour stop, Fire in the Village hosts pre-concert lunch gatherings from Noon – 2PM. These are spaces of art, food, story, and reflection.

    • Community members share a meal prepared together with local cooks.

    • FITV artists bring the Block Printing Space and share stories from the work we’ve been doing in our village.

    • The gathering closes with a “Learning to Remember Circle.” Annie Humphrey introduces the vision behind her toolbelts and shares wisdom from John Trudell: “We can’t outfight them or outgun them, but we will outlast them.” The circle invites everyone to share their own creativity, skills, and stories—building cultures and communities of care.

  • Each night, Annie Humphrey and friends host an evening of music, storytelling, and collective imagination.

    • Doors open at 6PM; concerts begin at 7PM (except the John Trudell final show: 7PM doors, 8PM concert).

    • Before the music, audiences can gather for social time and block printing.

    • Concerts feature special guest musicians (TBA) and the Outlast Fashion Show, where community members model new looks inspired by resilience and shared creativity.

    • Tickets are sliding scale $5–20, with no one turned away for lack of funds. (The John Trudell final show will be ticketed separately by the Cedar Cultural Center.)
